CAN TV Announces Four New Board Members

CHICAGO – August 1, 2024 – CAN TV, Chicago’s premiere hub for community access news, hyperlocal stories and educational resources, is pleased to announce four new members to its Board of Directors. With backgrounds in finance, business development, community development and philanthropy, the new directors bring a diverse range of expertise that will help sustain CAN TV’s mission, expand the network’s reach in the community and elevate its impact.

The four new directors include: 

  • Clarence Booth, Customer Solutions Specialist, West Monroe Partners
  • Matthew Johanson, Co-Founder & Senior Partner, Just Act Partners  
  • Monique B. Jones, President & CEO, Forefront
  • Tiffany Hamel Johnson, President & CEO, Chicago United

“CAN TV works relentlessly to deepen its connection with Chicagoans by providing the training, equipment and platform necessary for them to share their stories. Our four new directors bring tremendous expertise, leadership, and commitment to each of Chicago’s beautiful, diverse neighborhoods,” said Darrious Hilmon, Executive Director of CAN TV.  “With their skill, knowledge and deep belief in our work, we are closer to fulfilling our critical mission.” 

Clarence Booth is a mission-driven team leader at West Monroe Partners. In addition to his work as a manager in the Customer Solutions practice, he founded and oversees the firm’s Small Minority-Owned Business Initiative and serves as an advisor to the firm-wide Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategy. Clarence has extensive board service experience, including as President of the Emmaus Board of Directors.

Matthew Johanson specializes in leveraging business development for the advancement of equitable economic opportunity for all Chicagoans. Prior to founding Just Act Partners in 2023, Matt spent more than 25 years at Discover Financial Services as the Chief ESG Officer and SVP of Social Impact. Matt is a Leadership Greater Chicago 2022 Daniel Burnham Fellow and a graduate of Illinois State University, where he established the Matt & Sue Johanson Diversity in Technology endowment. 

Monique B. Jones is a visionary leader with more than 25 years of management experience in the nonprofit sector. As the President & CEO of Forefront, Monique connects philanthropy, operating nonprofits and their allies to improve the lives of all people in Illinois. Monique’s stellar career has been widely acclaimed. She received the 2020 Nonprofit Person of the Year award from the Evanston Chamber of Commerce and the 2018 NAACP North Shore Chapter Community Service Award.  

Tiffany Hamel Johnson brings nearly 30 years of private, public and nonprofit experience to CAN TV.  As the President & CEO of Chicago United, Tiffany advances diversity, equity and inclusion within Chicago’s business community and works to make Chicago the most inclusive business ecosystem in the nation. Prior to being named the first Black CEO in Chicago United’s history, Tiffany worked in real estate, economic development, and community development and served in the Office of the Mayor of Chicago as Deputy Chief Neighborhood Development Officer.

Established by the City of Chicago in 1983 to maximize the involvement of Chicago residents and groups in cable television, CAN TV delivers over 140 hours of original, hyper-local programming each week. Additionally, CAN TV gives every Chicagoan a voice on cable television by providing training, facilities, equipment, and airtime for Chicago residents and nonprofit groups. CAN TV’s five local cable channels (CAN TV 19, 21, 27, 36 and 42) reach more than one million viewers in the city of Chicago. In 2023 (Jan-Dec), CAN TV programming was watched by more than 34.4 million viewers.
