Speaking Out Against Domestic Violence on CAN TV

October 27, 2014

Statistics show over 10 million people are victims of domestic violence in the U.S. each year.

On CAN TV, local nonprofits are breaking the silence around domestic violence by encouraging victims to share their stories and seek help.

“CAN TV lets us reach those who are most debilitated by domestic violence: those who have limited access to information about services, people who speak little or no English, and those who are recent immigrants,” said Courtney Frederick, Development Coordinator, LifeSpan.

LifeSpan and other nonprofits that focus on domestic violence host a live call-in program every Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. on CAN TV21 and on cantv.org/hotline.

These shows give victims an opportunity to not only watch, but also call in anonymously and get the trusted information they need. In fact, the National Coalition of Domestic Violence states anonymous phone hotlines are integral in the fight against domestic violence.
